Paul's Rants
WHAT I THINK...

I am sick to death of hearing from this administration about how well things are going in Iraq. Can some one buy them a clue. Things are not great over there as a matter of fact things are getting far more out of control then they have anticipated. Car bombings, suicide bomber's, it never stops, and it will not.going there and thrusting democracy down their throats was a horrible idea and was not our concern in the first place! look here are the facts...

* Iraq is no closer to stability than it was a year ago. Things keep getting worse every week. More than 1,700 Americans have been killed and more than 12,000 wounded.
* The U.S. occupation is fueling a growing insurgency. Our presence is exacerbating the problem. There are tens of thousands of insurgents backed by hundreds of thousands of supporters.
* We got into this war based on lies—the wrong way. It's time to get out the right way. The first step is to realize that the Bush policy is out of touch with reality.
* We need a real exit plan with a real timeline providing real accountability for our leaders. We need to turn control of the training of Iraqi forces and the rebuilding of Iraq to the international community. And we must renounce permanent military bases in Iraq because that angers the Iraqi people.

Thank you... MOVEON PAC

Bring our men & women home or should I say boys and girls. That's all. Admit "W" that you have made a horrible mistake. Admit you lied to the American people and to the world for that matter about this war! Funny (Or not.), this President can lie about a war and kill thousands upon thousands of innocent people and apparently that's OK, but have a President lie about a blow job and that's grounds for impeachment??!! Also, the closing of these military bases...uh...I remember when Clinton was closing bases and the republicans lost there friggin mind, not to mention the military leaders, now "W" is doing the same thing and no one cares...I guess as long as "OLD NAVY" is still open then we should be fine w/ that. Would the Democrats get a fucking clue and have some balls and speak up!! The liberals seem to have no problem doing that, but of course we are so unpatriotic and and working w/ the Devil in order to preserve our constitutional rights. You know...separation of Church & state, The freedom of Speech thing,uh...right to chose, correct me if I'm wrong ,but Homosexuals are people. Wait let me think about this...yep... I talk to some of my Gay friends and I was right they are people and they live in America...you know home of the free and the brave. Just a thought.

Michael Jackson, ok he's got an interesting dilemma on his hands...He was found not guilty and yes he did have a kick ass law team, and the family was certainly sketchy in many ways, but not guilty nonetheless. Now Michael has to decide does he continue inviting children into his bedroom for milk and cookies, video games, and story time or does he keep and distance from that practice? If he does people will say well there you go...he must have been guilty he stopped doing it, or he is still doing it because there is nothing wrong w/ what he is doing. Will Michael stay in this country? I think right now he feels vindicated, but betrayed. He is certainly a strange cat,but do I believe he hurt any of these children...no. The ball is in Michael's court and it will be interesting to see what his next move will be. A new album maybe, a tour, selling of "NEVERLAND"...who knows, but either way Michael has hopefully learned something from all of this. Time will tell.

Thanks to all who got involved to save PBS, NPR & PRI. It was a success!!! I am thrilled and glad to know that there are still a large number of intelligent people out there who recognize the importance of public broadcasting and all the benefits that come w/ it.I have been a huge supporter of public broadcasting and I was appalled by the bill to cut funding. I have been extremely irritated w/ the funding being cut for music & art in our schools as well and this is just more of an example of how out of touch our elected officials are. Elections are just around the corner, so it is time to speak up and make some changes! It is time for drastic measure folks!

Just a thought...

I have so much to rant about, and I'm not even sure were to begin, but I'll try. So, let's start w/ income tax. OK..So, I'm paying for social security and Medicaid no matter what. My problem w/ this is will social security even be around when I'm old enough to receive it? Probably not. This revision of SS is a freaking joke not to mention a gamble. Hell, the odds are better in Las Vegas at the Black Jack table. The income tax system definitely needs an overhaul, but not this Mr. President. How about a 20% flat tax. Period. Now I know what your thinking the middle class & lower classes will get reamed on that one, well not if we do not start the tax until after $25,000.00. I think it would be brilliant. OK, I'm no genius in this matter and will not pretend to be the income tax system is outdated, just like the voting system. Electoral votes need to be done away w/ as well. If you win the popular vote then you win. Period. "FOR THE PEOPLE,BY THE PEOPLE."

I recently saw some films...Some great some not so great...Ok, first "Closer" Ok,a decent adult flick, and performances from Clive Owen and Natalie Portman were outstanding, but the story was just ok, not great, and I just do not like Julia Roberts. I do not get it. Why her? Who likes this woman? I can't stand her so called acting and I can't stand to watch her. When she opens her mouth I'm expecting everything around her to get sucked up in the "BLACK HOLE" that is her mouth. Jude Law was decent, but I believe this role was a walk in the park for him. It also doesn't leave you feeling very warm and fuzzy. It's quite depressing actually, which usually I like, but I had trouble liking any of the characters enough to appreciate the downer of an ending.

"King Arthur" This remake of the classic tale of King Arthur and his brave nights is nothing short of brilliant. I'll tell you why. It starts w/ the concept of this King and his men being based on actual people who existed before the actual story begins. A post roman world starting to change and move forward and out of Rome's control. Arthur witnesses the tyranny of his beloved Rome and how it treats people and he is appalled by it and starts to feel is idealistic way of thinking is just that. Thought and not fact. Arthur wants peace and harmony amongst everyone, and believes this can be accomplished. Unfortunately everyone else thinks he's crazy, but his men will stand by him till death to fight for these values that he holds so dear to his heart. The Lancelot & Guinevere situation is very subtle and in no way is it an important part of this telling of the story instead it is more about that changing world and how Arthur wants it to change. On top of all of this The SAXONS are in route to destroy everything in their path including Arthur and his men. The battle scenes are done very well and the Directors cut is definitely the way to go.Directed well and with intelligence this film is a must see for anyone who believes in the greater good and who appreciates a different angle on an old encouraging tale.

I love fucked up films and Lions Gate seems to have the market cornered on this w/ "SAW." This film starts out giving you the "willies" and doesn't stop until the final scene were they slap you in the face so hard it'll knock you out of your chair. This was a very well written film. The serial Killer genre seems to be all played out and then a film like this comes along and adds a nice flare and intelligence that is missing usually from this type of film. The only thing that was very been there done that was the tormented, obsessive cop bit, played by Danny Glover of all people. Granted he's a great actor and It's hard not to feel his pain, but how many times must we see the obsessive cop angle gone awry. The cast was very good and the directing was also done w/ a slickness that big budget films wish they had. I look forward to the next project this writer/ director / and crew do together. I will not divulge and info, since it would spoil the big fuck you at the end of the movie, but just know it is one of the best in years.

"Spanglish" is well written and well acted even by Adam Sandler. I don't really like this guy, but his performance in "PUNCH DRUNK LOVE" and this film allowed me to forget who I was watching. So Kudos to you Mr. Sandler, but this film is slow and boring and I've seen every scene before and every plot line and every Character about a hundred times. The writer/ director James L. Brooks , "AS GOOD AS IT GETS" is a brilliant writer, but this film falls short instead of taking a typical story and giving it a new life it just lays there, and I could not wait for this film to be over. I did however appreciate another performance by the daughter Actress Sarah Steele and Cloris Leachman who plays the mother of Tea Leoni. They helped me sit through this slooooooooowwwwww moving film.

"Sideways" is a brilliant film. I loved the story. I loved the characters and it's a damn shame that Paul Giamatti was not nominated for his very understated performance. Thomas Hayden Church was nominated and for good reason. When ever something gets to serious he's there to make you laugh although he gets down and ugly towards the end asking for help from his always forgiving buddy(Paul) to save his hopeless ass. Middle age has never been so funny, sad, angry and so hopeless and so, so, what's next? Marriage, divorce, fun, drinking, relationships, moving on with your life has never looked so good/ or bad as it does in this film. Do not expect to be blown away, just expect a good film with a lot to say, and say it, it does w/ grace, and sometimes not so graceful. that's what's so great about the film. It has no problem being honest about everything. Even the stuff that sucks, but it expects you to accept and again move on. I was really satisfied when it was over and felt that no matter how crappie things can be sometime there is always a light and a reason to look ahead. Loved it. See it for yourself.

Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet are two of the most wonderful actors out there right now and what a brilliant idea to cast them together in a film. "FINDING NEVERLAND." Although a slow paced film. The relationship between them and his relationship w/ her sons is beautifully depicted in this film. His fight to remain a playwright, amongst a flop or two his interesting and his coming to a realization about his marriage and his new theatrical idea "PETER PAN." is also fascinating. Being in the public eye as he was also opened the doors to scrutiny. What was he doing w/ those boys and why was he hanging out w/ this widow when he was a married man. all of this is explored and lightly touched on. I would've like to have seen a little more of that, but that is really the only problem I had with this film. Watching the transformation of the play and the boys and how they cope w/ life and the death of their father is an interesting and emotional journey for the characters as well as the audience. I enjoyed this film. Do not forget your tissues for this one tugs at all the heart strings.

So "DUBYA" was sworn in and it's another four years. The Inauguration only cost US 40 million dollars seems a little excessive due to the fact we have one of the largest natural disasters ever in the history of this planet to help clean up, with a death toll reaching close to a quarter of a million people. Oh and that war...you know the one in Iraq that we have under control.Actually the insurgents have it all under control. How about funding our troops a little better. Maybe some bullet proof armor & vehicles since they are being shot at on a regular basis and many are killed every fucking day .Yeah it really looked like "Dubya" and Co really knows and feels for the common man. I think it would've been kinda important to keep the state of the world in mind when being sworn in,but ya know that would go against this admins way of doing things. The speech went through twenty different revisions...hum...I would've liked to have read the first couple...I heard that George wanted to write his own speech......

"Let me write the God damn speech." George said "I want to say a few things...that's right screw heads I fooled all of you once and I'm gonna glide on by these next four years...Oh and the Christian coalition and the companionate conservatives...well thanks for the votes. God bless ya ,but you guys are really gonna be pissed off when I'm done. I just hope the Democrats and the liberals don't get their shit together in two years or I'm fucked for the last two. That probably won't happen, I mean they fucked up the election pretty good. I should've lost hands down. Who'd a thunk it that I would've scored so big with the common man. Must have been all those pictures of me w/ my sleeves rolled up and my cowboy hat on. I love Texas, but I hate those "homos." So things are real screwed up right now, but this is a party so let's eat..Oh and are we drinking at this thing. I know,I know , I'm not supposed to drink, but damn if there was ever a good reason this is it. I did it DAD. God I love this country and I love my Saudi friends. Being rich is where it's at folks. Don't worry I won't let those terrorist folks get ya, or N.Vietnam...Oh I mean Korea...I'm George W. Bush God damn it!...God Bless America! I'm king of the world! "

I saw "SHAUN OF THE DEAD" and I have to say it was the funniest thing I've seen since" BAD SANTA." This movie was vicious with it's violence and it's comedy at the same time. The two main actors had an incredible chemistry and the script was surprisingly good. The dialogue was also not as trite as one would think and the musical zombie killing in the bar w/ Queen being played by the jukebox is something to see to believe. Just when you thought there was nothing left to do w/ the "Zombie" flick out comes this picture. The DVD extras are also very funny so make sure you check them out. This was the most original idea w/ a "Zombie" movie I'd seen since" 28 DAYS LATER", but clearly not as serious...and the end is just off the hook funny. If you can not stomach the Zombie Flick then do not bother, since the gore is still over the top,but if you want to laugh and be grossed out this is your movie.

Other films in this vein..."DEAD ALIVE" a Peter Jackson Film (Pre-Lord Of the Rings)
"CEMETERY MAN" Rupert Everett ( Pre-Bad Madonna flick)

My wife and I watched the Golden Globes the other night as we always do and I have to say I think I enjoy them more than the Oscars. It seems the talent in the room is having a much better time. Maybe it's the foodor maybe it'a the wine and champagne that keeps coming to the tables. I don't know just doesn't seem so stuffy and not as confined as the Oscars seem to be. I also like the fact that the people that win usually deserve it and it's not about who's kissing who's ass that year or who's the Oscar Darling or Dude that year. OK..I know what your thinking what are you talking about...example...Paul Newman was nominated nine times finally wins for "THE COLOR OF MONEY." What are you kidding me? I had trouble staying a wake watching that flick...Uh did anyone see "THE HUSTLER." or how about "CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF" "COOL HAND LUKE?" Oh and one of my all time favorites Julia Roberts wins against Ellen Burnstyn for her role in Erin Brockovich. It was a decent flick and all,but did you see Ellen in "REQUIEM FOR A DREAM?" Oh my God. Ellen should've walked home w/ that Oscar. I could bitch forever about this, but I will not. It just seems to me the Golden Globes are a little more honest that's all. I mean Ellen won the "Globe" & she won "The Spirit Award" as well that year for her amazing performance. I was very happy to see the actor Ian Mcshane win the globe for best actor in a dramatic series. I love "DEADWOOD!" HBO KICKS ASS! My wife is writing an episodic/series for HBO and it's really good, but I can't tell you about it yet. Just trust me when I say it's all fucked up and crazy/spooky/kooky & real freaking cool... and it's right up HBO's alley. My wife rocks! Ok I'll stop now she's probably going to be pissed when she reads this...

Just thought I'd share this with ya. OK... I'm done until next time...I'll see ya @ the shows.

SINCE THE ELECTION I HAVE ALMOST STOPPED READING & WATCHING THE NEWS. I GOT SO DISGUSTED w/ THE MEDIA AND HOW LINES HAD BEEN DRAWN AND SIDES HAD BEEN CHOSEN. I WANT MY NEWS TO BE JUST THAT NEWS. I DON'T WANT SOME BIAS BULLSHIT. IF I WANT THAT I'LL GO TO FOX NEWS OR MICHEAL MOORE'S WEB SITE OR I'LL LISTEN TO RUSH LIMBAUGH. YES I LISTEN TO HIM. I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT THE OTHER SIDE IS THINKING YA KNOW...
THEN THERE IS THIS FCC CRAP GOING ON. IT IS OUT OF CONTROL. HEY IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT HOWARD STERN IS SAYING THEN TURN THE FUCKING DIAL JACKASS! PRETTY SOON NORMAL RADIO (FM/AM ) WILL BE OBSOLETE AND EVERYONE WILL HAVE SATELLITE RADIO. I KNOW I AM. I DO NOT WANT SOME ONE CENSORING WHAT I HEAR OR SEE OR WHAT EVER. I CAN DECIDE FOR MYSELF THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I GUESS BEING AN ARTIST MAKES ME A LITTLE MORE SENSITIVE TO THIS. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ON THE EDGE AND THE EDGY STUFF HAS ALWAYS FIRED ME UP SHALL WE SAY. I HAVE GROWN UP A BIT, BUT MY ENERGY AND EDGE IS STILL THERE GOING STRONG! DID YOU GUYS KNOW THAT BLOCKBUSTER RE-EDITS A LOT OF THE FILMS BEFORE YOU SEE THEM. THAT'S RIGHT. ESPECIALLY THE EDGY ONES. THEY ARE OWNED BY A CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE GROUP. I AM SURPRISED THAT THEY HAVEN'T STOPPED RENTING "R" RATED FLICKS ALL TOGETHER, DON'T WORRY I'M SURE IT IS ON THE WAY. I AM CLEARLY A LITTLE MORE LIBERAL ABOUT THINGS THAN THE AVERAGE BEAR, BUT DOES THAT MAKE ME A BAD PERSON? UH...NO. I JUST TAKE THE WORD "FREEDOM" LITERALLY.

I SAW "HERO" W/ JET LI. THIS IS NOT A JET LI FILM. THIS IS A MASTERPIECE! IF YOU THOUGHT "CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON" WAS GREAT THEN THIS IS YOUR FILM. I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THIS FILM. THE CINEMATOGRAPHY WAS SPECTACULAR. THE ACTING TOP NOTCH DONE MOSTLY BY A CHINESE CAST. THE DIRECTOR IS NOT AN ACTION DIRECTOR AS A MATTER OF FACT THIS WAS HIS FIRST, BUT THIS IS NOT A MARTIAL ARTS FILM. THIS IS AN EPIC FILM WITH
MARTIAL ARTS IN IT. THE STORY IS WOVEN PRETTY TIGHT AND UNFOLDS BRILLIANTLY WITH VIBRANT COLORS TO EXUDE A MOOD OR TONE OF THE PARTICULAR SCENE. THIS WAS ALSO DONE WELL IN "THE THIEF, THE COOK, HIS WIFE ,HER LOVER." EACH SETTING HAD A SPECIFIC COLOR TO HELP CREATE A MOOD, AND THE COLORS WERE ALMOST A CHARACTER THEMSELVES. THE ACTION WAS OVER THE TOP,BUT I WOULD NOT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. DONNIE YEN & JET LI HAVE A SCENE TOGETHER THAT IS OUT OF CONTROL. THESE TWO GUYS HAVE NOT DONE A SCENE TOGETHER IN OVER TEN YEARS. IT
WAS AMAZING TO WATCH THESE TWO MASTERS IN ACTION. IF YOU APPRECIATE GREAT FILM MAKING THEN CHECK THIS ONE OUT. IF SUBTITLES ARE A BOTHER THEN DON'T BOTHER.

October 19, 2004 What I think...

I'm sure everyone is aware that the Sinclair broadcasting group is airing this smear special on John Kerry and how he prolonged the war in Vietnam. OK...John Kerry prolonged the Vietnam War? Are you f*cking kidding me? Is this all you got? Man oh man you want to talk about desperate. A reporter was then fired for speaking out on the fact
that this is wrong.... From a NY times article: Jon Leiberman, who also was the lead political reporter for the 62-station television chain, told CNN last night that he was terminated for his criticism, which was quoted in yesterday's Baltimore Sun. He spoke out, he said, because "I feel so strongly that our credibility is at issue here. . .
I feel our company is trying to sway this election." If your not with us then your against us mentality. This all seems real sketchy to me so I did some investigating with the help of some friends. Here's what we came up with... We all know that the Sinclair Broadcasting Group supports Georgie, but I wanted to go a little further so we decided to check out the producer of the so called "crapumentary"--Carlton Sherwood. And after about 5 seconds on google, we found out how he falls into the whole "let's get GWB re-elected" scheme. He formly worked for Tom Ridge (Bush-appointed Sec. of Homeland Security). The Bush Administration selected Sherwood to create and manage a new federal website aimed at first responders. He is currently serving as Executive VP and Director of Communications at WVC3 Group Inc. I had not heard of the WVC3 Group Inc.
before so I decided to check out their website. Gee--what a shocker another company making $$ off the war on terror and the war in Iraq. Check out http://www.wvc3.com/capabilities.cfm for all the details.
Also on there website they have a "News in Iraq" section..I'll give you one guess to the News company they link you to...yep..FOX News. Hold on folks...It gets even better...
This guy Sherwood, although he served in the Vietnam War he was against the funding used to erect and build the Vietnam Memorial Wall. In the crap fest known as
"Stolen Honor," he apparently is claiming the John Kerry "lied" about all the atrocities that occurred in Vietnam, yet he refers to these atrocities in the following quote...(I found
this in a post..it is apparently from a 1984 Washington Post article about the Vietnam Wall)... "There were 100 wars in Vietnam. The war I fought was totally different than theirs. I was on the DMZ. We had no booby traps, we didn't have to woory about
shooting women and children and being court-martialed if we did. We were fighting a trench war. I didn't have time to think. We were losing 350 people-people killed a week. When you know so many on the wall, it sort of loses it's impact." Uh...heelloo?!
It's amazing that Sherwood survived the war and then decides to profit off another. Maybe he feels he's owed something. I'm not sure, perhaps Dylan asked it best... "Let me ask you one question...Is your money that good? Will it buy you forgiveness? Do you think that it could?"

Now this is funny...

Subject: dems v. reps
A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes
north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Democrat." "I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican.""I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?""Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met but, somehow, now it's my fault."
Thanks to my friends Ashlee & Tom for their insight, investigations and words.

OK, I'm out-a-here...C YA @ THE GIGS!!!!

Just a brief note....

I was checking out the WVC3 website again...apparently they have made some changes. Carlton Sherwood is not sited on the website and now the "News in Iraq" section no longer links you to Fox News. I wonder why the sudden changes? things that make you go...hmmm....? Just thought you all should know.

September 1, 2004

The summer is almost over and I barely remember it. It flew by this year, but it usually does. Things are heating up for this election. I was wondering if John Kerry did not go to Vietnam and if 9/11 had not occurred what would the two candidates and their "PEEPS" be talking about? The economy, or health care or what? I watched the Democratic convention & it was Vietnam this and purple hearts that and I have been watching the GOP convention as well and if one more person talks about 9/11 at the GOP convention I
am going to puke! Really, 9/11 was horrible and "W" was president and he hung out at ground zero and our nation showed great courage and we all came together...no sh*t. Don't get me wrong 9/11 was devastating & any one who serves in the Military deserves major kudos and much respect from all of us & I was behind "W" for going into Afganistan. I believe in my heart of hearts that any president would have done similar things. Except maybe attack Iraq. I did enjoy certain key speeches at both conventions one was the Rev.Al Sharpton. Man can this guy get your blood pumping. Former Mayor Giuliani gave a damn good speech as well, but for the most part it's all "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!" We are, after all, talking about politicians.

PLEASE PEOPLE GET OUT THERE IN NOVEMBER AND VOTE

USE IT OR LOSE IT!!!!!!!!!

My Thoughts on...

I just recently saw "AvsP" AKA "ALIEN vs PREDATOR." Strangely enough it was rated PG13. The gore content was very mellow.Younger audiences can enjoy these monsters as well as us old school fans. The action was up there and watching these two monsters go at it was fascinating and I have to admit it, FUN! There was a story believe it or not and it made sense as far as these two film franchises go. The monsters looked great and the special effects were top notch. There was a lot more thought put into this film then the "FREDDY vs JASON" film last year. If you have been a fan of these films you will love
the fight sequences, and of course you have to sit through the back story for the first 30 minutes, but the action takes over and it's pretty much non-stop after that. I was waiting for Sigourney Weaver to show up, but instead we got a new "super chick" if you will to
carry the flick. Will there be a part 2? Don't know, but go see the film if Sci-Fi is your bag, and these particular films are apart of your DVD/VIDEO collection then this film is a must see."Whoopee!!!"

Kill Bill part 2...This film was Kick-ass as they say. I loved part one, and part two is even better. I would love to view this film in all it's 4 and 1/2 hour glory in a theatre, w/ intermission of course. Some of us can't hold our bladder that long. Mr. Tarentino has kicked us in the face and we loved it! I am a huge fan of "B" movies, fight films, Anime,etc...and QT pays homage to these films and still pours his heart and soul into it. I had the pleasure of meeting him when I lived in West Hollywood. It was cool chatting w/ him he was very mellow and had no problem discussing his films and what have you with a fan and complete stranger. Kudos to you QT and please do not stop making films.

Since my last post many of you understand why I do what I do and say what I say weather you agree w/ me or not, we still live in a free society the last time I checked any way. Some or should I say a few have seen my opinions as troubling. Well I am just glad we live in a country where I can express my views, troubling or not, and not have my head chopped off. So, the bottom line is this I will continue to voice my opinions, and will do so with no animosity towards any one who disagrees with me. I welcome the retort. Bring it on! Oh, and welcome back on the air just in time for the election Mr. Bill Maher!!!
My daughter & I saw "SPIDERMAN 2." WOW! What can I say about this film...except that it was brilliant. They did run through about 30 + yrs of comics in 2 + hours, but it was condensed in a good way. The acting from everyone was top notch, and the story focuses on Peter Parker trying to cope with his double life. This was touching and done with such grace as only Tobey can do. One of the best super hero movies to date. The first one is still in a class all by it's self, but this film moves on from that and moves on w/ a vengeance. There are things that happen in this film that I was surprised to see so
early in this series, but movies do that. They have much to tell and not a lot of time to tell it. I will not ruin it for anyone who has not seen it yet. This is the reason we still go to the movies. This is the reason I will pay nine(9) dollars a ticket and not have an issue doing so. Go and see this film for Gods sake!

Just for the record, my wife wishes I would not speak my mind on such things political, social, religious,etc.... She is worried that some of you will pull off the mailing list because of my opinions. If that is what happens then so be it. I would like to think that "we" can
exchange thoughts, ideas, opinions and information without it being received with anger. For the record I welcome the rhetoric between people and I will continue to speak up and try to make some what of a difference. I have been outspoken since high school and I will continue to do so as long as there is a reason to speak out on such matters. Unfortunately in the entertainment/music industry artist tend to speak first and think second. Linda Ronstadt spoke out at her Las Vegas gig recently and was fired for it. "We hired you to Entertain not to speak your mind." To my dismay they, the promoters, are right. What she should've done is put her opinions in her newsletter or an online blog space. Then she could've spoken her mind and kept her gig. Hindsight 20/20. In days past I would take every opportunity to speak my mind at almost every gig. Now I have been less forthcoming w/ this info during live performance and more so thanks to modern technology with email, email groups such as this one, chat rooms, etc...

I do not expect all of you to agree with me or my views but I would like all of you to get involved, pay attention and form your own opinions based on the knowledge that is out there to obtain. This election coming up is one of the biggest and most important elections of our life-time. If you feel the need to say something...say it...I am not easily offended. I have said before I am not a Democrat and I am not a Republican. I am independent w/ my thoughts and choices. That my friend is what makes this country so great. OH and I want to add one thing I was wrong when I said the former conservative writer from "THE NEW YORKER" was offering $10,000 for every wrong fact. He has gone through it with a fine toothed comb and stated that he should offer up the money, but never actually did. Sorry about that. So, I have tried to back up some of my views and thoughts and opinions about Michael Moore's film....with a little help from my friends...

First off let me say thanks to all for the response. I did read many different views on this film. Some of which were from people who hadn't seen it. ...Uh...maybe you should see the film before you talk about. I read stuff from the far right to the far left and everywhere in-between Yes, Michael Moore throws his opinion out there in the film, but again the facts speak for them selves...Yes Moore does use clips out of context. So do Republicans in their attack ads. Yes he does present things in the light he wants you to see them. There are two sides to every story. Doesn't Michael Moore have a right to
express his? Of course the response from the right are mostly personal attacks that make them look pretty childish. The facts are not being disputed otherwise there would be a mile of lawsuits. So far not a single Libel suit has been brought up. The critiques that are supposed to make me feel guilty about any dissenting view because you must have somehow forgotten September 11th always gets me. Most Americans have no problem with going after the culprits of September 11th but like weapons of mass destruction, their just not in Iraq!!! The Iraq war was on the menu from Day one. Oh yeah Richard Clarke said that too. Go check it out! The real roots for this can be
easily seen if you've read the document published by the PNAC (Project for the New American Century) known as "Rebuilding Americas Defenses". This is quite public and free. Published in 2000, it reads like a script of the last 4 years under Bush. If you would
like a summary of why we are really in Iraq as well as where we're going if Bush gets his Mandate From God in November. I urge you to read this. It comes from the mouths and minds of your own. In answer to the "Iraqis are better off without Saddam"claim, well no shit they are better off as would be a lot of people living under similar or worse regimes. Again, this has nothing to do with why we went to Iraq. I seriously doubt that any one who makes this claim would have authorized the war for those reasons alone. Let's face it, they don't care about the people of Iraq. Never did. Why are we not in the Sudan or even talking about it if they are so concerned about the well being of others? I know you do not want to hear it and most, not all, conservatives are too lazy to research anything beyond what Limbaugh or Hannity tell them as they try to blame Democrats & liberals for all the problems in the world. Some conservativesfrom the far right seem to take their Politics like so many right wingers take their religion, on blind unquestioning faith and think it Patriotic. The disciples of Limbaugh are the epitome of "Group Think" that brought us to where we are by slinging fear, prejudice and hate along the way. They have, in many minds, successfully equated Liberals to Socialist/Communists and are trying to make Democrats the Jews in their little "with us or against us" culture. Oh by the way since it appears that some of you like to feel superior by pointing out grammatical errors of others, ITS NUCLEAR....NOT NUCULAR! and PHYSICALNESS?!" What in the hell does
that mean?! You'd think with a wife and a daughter that claim to be teachers, one of them might point this out to Mr. Bush. I have to go now as the sanctity of my marriage is apparently under attack from the homosexuals in the world.

In a recent letter, Moore says this about his film:

"This movie is perhaps the most thoroughly researched and vetted documentary of our time. No fewer than a dozen people, including three teams of lawyers and the venerable one-time fact-checkers from The New Yorker went through this movie with a fine-tooth comb so that we can make this guarantee to you. Do not let anyone say this or that isn't
true. If they say that, they are lying. Let them know that the OPINIONS in the film are mine, and anyone certainly has a right to disagree with them. And the questions I pose in the movie, based on these irrefutable facts, are also mine. And I have a right to ask them. And I will continue. He has gone to the trouble to document, point by point, the facts offered in the film, and that copious document can be found here:

Of course, I'm sure it will all be dismissed as a big liberal lie, since any source besides
FOX News is untrustworthy at best, right?

My wife and I have opposing views on some things political. It makes for great discussions. We had a conversation recently about the Presidential race. She is not thrilled with John Kerry and to be honest neither am I, yet I know in my heart that a change in the administration is over due. I said to her that I would vote for him if his choice of running mates is a good one. Well John Edwards was a great choice. I have been a Wesley Clark fan and still am ,but Edwards was second on my list. Anyway, we were both looking forward to Michael Moore's new film "Fahrenheit 911." I know, I know Michael Moore's liberal take on everything is too much for some, and he even goes to far for me sometimes, but he does uncover the facts and facts are facts. The film is extremely important for the progress of this country, and weather or not you agree w/ Michael Moore or not. "Every American should see this film." Parents should take there teenagers
to see it.Unfortunately the MPAA gave it an "R" rating. We were blown away by this movie, and the facts speak for them selves. A conservative writer from the "NEW YORKER" has put out a challenge to anyone who can find fault in any facts in this film. He has offered $10,000 per mistake. He of course checked all the facts first before making such a statement. Yes, of course Mr.Moore pushes the obvious "HORRORS OF WAR" in your face, which was unnecessary, but that's what he does. You still can not escape from the facts. I will not go into all of them, because there are just too many. When we came
out of the theatre I asked my wife if she was still going to vote for BUSH? With out pause or a breathe..."NO, I am not." See the film for yourself, take your family. See it for your country and for the right to see and make a film like this. Our freedoms are so precious and as a nation and as a people we need to realize this before it is too late!

Spiderman 2 opened today and I am so excited I can hardly sit here and type this post. This film will more than likely knock off Harry Potter as the #1 film, and I doubt any film will come close to it as far as record breaking box office goes.( Not to mention it will be a
great movie as far as big screen blockbusters go.) I'm just guessing. Speaking of films just saw "Secret Window" w/ Johnny Depp. Love this guy and most of his film choices. Since my wife and I are both writers we really appreciated this film, since the lead character(Depp) is a writer. The film moves at a moderate pace until John Turturro shows up and freaks everyone out. Then the film just gets creepy after that and has a great ending. Did you ever go and sit on Santa's lap in the mall when you were a kid? I did and one time Santa seemed a little under the weather and his breath smelt like my Dads after he had been drinking.I'm thinking this is a JOB that you have to love in order to be really good at it, or you need some ulterior motive, hence the film "BAD SANTA." This
movie spits in your face from the first scene and keeps spitting until it's over and I have to say I laughed my ass off. This is up there with "THE BIG LEBOWSKI" for me, and how ironic that the COHEN brothers are executive producers. Billy Bob Thorton is perfect in
this movie as a horny, alcoholic, thieving Santa. This film does not apologize for anything and almost dares you to keep watching. There are great performances by Bernie Mac,& John Ritter although we could have done with out Bernie Mac and the film would've been just fine. The kid in the film is very good and feeds off of BBT's vile and disgusting character so well you feel bad for him through most of the film. If you are easily offended do not watch this film. If you want a film to go as far as it can go and not give a sh*t if you like it or not then check it out!

"HOWZIT?!" Things are great on my end. I've been in the studio recording vocals for the new record. I am so excited about this record I can hardly contain myself.Look for special guest appearances all over this thing, not to mention I've written several songs with
other people whom will remain nameless at this point. I have to leave some sort of surprise element to all of this. I saw some films recently.I enjoyed all of them for different
reasons. "The Last Samurai" This was not a typical Tom Cruise fest. It was more about The samurai and how they are extremely important to the history and culture of JAPAN, and how they were almost completely wiped out by progress if you will. Give it a look even if you do not care for Tom Cruise. "Master & Commander" w/ Russell Crowe. OK he's a hot head and kind of an asshole in real life, but I do give credit where credit is due
and his acting is never short of great. Not a lot of story here, but great scenes of battle on the high seas and the true depiction of ship life w/ the young boys living out there adolescence on the high seas during the reign of Napoleon. The young boys were not only used for the high flying work on the sails, but some of them were actually in charge. Not a chick flick for sure, but well done. Speaking of great acting...if one person deserves the Oscar she got it's Charlize Theron." MONSTER " was very upsetting and depressing to say the least, but so much sympathy was created for her character after watching this knowing it was based on a true story. I followed Aileen Wuornos story pretty closely, and not once did I feel bad for her, since the media painted her as a predator and a "monster"
if you will. Not unusual for a serial killer. This movie showed how uncompromising and wretched her life was from the very beginning to her last few moments in the court room before she was sentenced to death. The writer /director Patty Jenkins wanted to show how this person was forced to live the life she led. She had no choice and wanted to change her life and tried, but to no avail. This film leaves a bad taste in your mouth and a bad feeling in your gut for sure, but if you appreciate great acting and story telling this is
for you.
